Michael Beamish, Captain of The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, said:

“The AIG Women’s Open is one of the most prestigious international majors on the golfing calendar and we are delighted to have been chosen as hosts. It is our privilege to be the home of next year’s championship and we are looking forward to welcoming the world’s best players to compete at Muirfield.”

The R&A announced in 2020 that our world-famous links course would be the host venue of the 2022 AIG Women’s Open. The Honourable Company, which has held The Open 16 times, is looking forward to welcoming the world’s top female golfers as we host the championship for the first time. This is the first major championship the venue has hosted since The 142nd Open, won by Phil Mickelson.
